The OEM 17" rims for 3rd gens are 17"x8" with +25.4mm offset (+1") which gives a backspace of 5.5". The 4th gens come with 17"x7" wheels with the +25.4" offset. If the 285 is a P-rated, ie P285/70r17 then stick to the doorjamb recommendation. You CAN pump the tire up to the max pressure on the tire, but you will change the handling ...
