Sample space of dice
WebJan 12, 2024 · 1. I'm a little confused about what this problem is asking exactly and would simply like some advice on my solution. The problem is: We roll a die three times. Give a probability space ( Ω, F, P) for this experiment. The following is my written solution. Assuming the die is fair and six-sided, the sample space for one roll is Ω 1 = { 1, 2, 3 ... WebJan 23, 2015 · 1 Answer Maitreyee Jan 23, 2015 Its {1,2,3,4,5,6} which is actually a set of all the possible outcomes as the definition of sample space specifies. When you roll a 6 sided dice, number of dots on uppermost face is called as outcome. Now, whenever a dice is rolled we can get either 1, 2,3,4,5 or 6 dots on the upper most face..that is now outcome.

WebDec 10, 2024 · Therefore, the size of the sample space is $6^3 = 216$. In the comments, you asked why we use different colors for the dice. If we used three white dice, there would be $$\binom{6}{1} + \binom{2}{1}\binom{6}{2} + \binom{6}{3}$$ distinguishable outcomes. The first term represents the number of outcomes in which all three dice show the same value.
